Woman shot in chest while sitting in car | 911
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A woman was shot in the chest when someone opened fire on her car in Burien on Wednesday, and police are searching for the shooter.
Officials said the woman was in a car near the intersection of SW 136th Street and Ambaum Boulevard when a man got out of a truck and started shooting about 12:20 p.m., hitting her in the chest.
"(There were) three to four (shots), rapid fire, like an automatic," said one witness.
Several people saw the gunman take off down the street, possibly into a nearby apartment complex.
"He's jogging along. He's got his hand down his pants like he's hiding something," said a mechanic who was working nearby. "He had something else in his other hand, couldn't tell what that was, might have been that his hand was bandaged."
The man driving the car carrying the shooting victim drove to a Shell gas station at First Avenue South and SW 148th.
Medics found the injured woman at the gas station and rushed her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she was in stable condition.
No description of the shooter's car was available, and it was not clear if the woman was the target of the attack.
"We don't know what initiated that contact, but there was obviously something leading up it, to that point, to provoke it," said Sgt. Jesse Anderson of the Major Crimes Unit.
The investigation is ongoing.
